MADE FOR MAKING WAVES
Four little kids.
One very good reason for a pool.

With a growing family, this Oxford couple had a pretty practical reason for adding a pool: they needed somewhere for everyone to play! Their first backyard project created exactly that, a simple, beautiful space where the kids can swim, learn, play and grow up together.

What they imagined
A place for four little kids to be little kids. The family wanted their first pool to give everyone something to do at home, whether that meant learning to swim, splashing with siblings, or turning an ordinary afternoon into a pool day.

Unique requirements
With so many young children, the priority was creating a family-friendly pool that worked for this stage of life without overcomplicating the backyard. They wanted something attractive and functional that could become the starting point for their outdoor space as the family grows.

The Half Moon Living solution
Half Moon Living kept the design simple and intentional, choosing a fiberglass pool that gives the family plenty of room for everyday fun while fitting naturally into the property. The focus stayed on creating a beautiful foundation they could enjoy immediately.

End result
Their first family pool, and the beginning of a lot of memories. Right now, it’s cannonballs, pool toys, and learning to swim. As the kids grow, the same backyard can grow right along with them, giving the family a place to keep coming together for years to come.

COME TOGETHER
A backyard designed
for every generation

Designed with every generation in mind, this backyard turns everyday life into something worth gathering for. From game days and grilling to pool days with the grandkids, every detail was created to give the whole family a reason to come together and stay awhile.

What they imagined
A backyard that would become the gathering place for their growing family, where their kids, grandkids and friends could spend time together for years to come.

Unique requirements
They wanted a space that worked for every generation, with plenty of room for entertaining alongside thoughtful details for the littlest family members. That meant everything from watching the game and grilling to swimming, playing cornhole, and spending evenings by the fire.

The Half Moon Living solution
Half Moon Living created a complete outdoor living space with a pool, tanning ledge, heater/chiller, barefoot-friendly pavers, outdoor kitchen, fireplace and small bathroom. Each element was designed to work together while giving the family different ways to enjoy the backyard at the same time.

End result
A backyard built to grow with the family. Today, it’s a place for game days, pool days, and family gatherings. As the grandkids grow from little feet on those pavers to teenagers hanging out by the pool, the space is ready to grow right along with them.

THE HOST HOUSE
The backyard where
family fun comes naturally

What started with a sidewalk grew into the place everyone wants to be. This Shaw, Mississippi, property evolved project by project into a complete outdoor gathering space made for swimming, cooking, birthdays and a whole lot of family time.

What they imagined
A backyard where their boys could grow up and their extended family would always feel welcome. They wanted to be the house that could host everything from an ordinary summer afternoon to birthdays and big family gatherings.

Unique requirements
The project evolved over time rather than happening all at once. What began with a sidewalk repour expanded to include a pool and eventually a large covered pavilion, all while creating a natural connection between the main house and the property’s back house. Throughout the design, maintaining plenty of backyard greenspace was a priority, giving the boys room for yard games alongside ample space for swimming and poolside fun.

The Half Moon Living solution
Half Moon Living approached each addition as part of a bigger picture, using hardscaping to connect the different areas of the property and creating dedicated spaces for swimming, cooking and gathering. The covered pavilion gives the family a generous outdoor living area, while the pool became the centerpiece for boys growing up in the country.

End result
The house everyone comes to. The finished space brings the pool, pavilion and surrounding property together into one backyard built for hosting, whether that means firing up the smoker, watching the boys jump in the pool, or having the whole family over for a birthday. It’s a space that can handle a crowd and still feel like home.

WE NEVER GO OUT OF STYLE
A backyard built for
the teenage years

Built for summer now and years of memories ahead, this Lake Providence backyard brings resort-worthy outdoor living to a beautifully designed home.

What they imagined
A timeless backyard where their daughters could spend their summers, designed with the same level of thought and quality as the home itself. They wanted a pool that felt like it had always belonged there, not something simply added to the backyard.

Unique requirements
The home’s architecture and rural location shaped nearly every decision. The new space needed to complement the Frank Tindall-designed home without interrupting its views, while limited access to certain materials meant the team had to find a different approach to the pool itself.

The Half Moon Living solution
Half Moon Living designed around both the home and the realities of the location, selecting a fiberglass pool and creating a layout that works naturally with the existing architecture. Outdoor cooking and thoughtfully selected furnishings completed a space designed for both everyday family life and long-term use.

End result
This backyard feels like it was there from the start. It gives the girls a place for long summer days now, while its timeless design, durable materials and connection to the home ensure it can evolve with the family for years to come.

POOL HOUSE ROCK
One family’s new hub
for outdoor living

What started as a forgotten corner of the yard has evolved into a true backyard resort. With a newly updated fiberglass pool joining the outdoor kitchen, natural flagstone, and gathering spaces, this Cleveland backyard is designed to move effortlessly from quiet afternoons by the water to evenings filled with family and friends.

What they imagined
Our clients wanted a backyard that could be equal parts retreat and gathering place. With grandkids ranging from elementary age to babies and a family that loves to host, they wanted a space for their kids and grandkids to be able to hop out of the pool, grab a drink, and eat a burger, while still feeling polished enough for parties and showers.

Unique requirements
This project has evolved along with the family. After transforming the original underused space with an outdoor kitchen, living area and extensive flagstone, the pool needed an upgrade of its own. Replacing the liner pool with fiberglass would bring its look, durability, and functionality in line with the rest of the backyard.

The Half Moon Living solution
Half Moon Living connected every element into one cohesive outdoor retreat, pairing the updated fiberglass pool with an outdoor kitchen, natural flagstone, landscape lighting, and comfortable gathering areas. A half bath and outdoor shower add another layer of functionality, making long pool days and hosting a crowd that much easier. All while keeping little wet feet out of the house.

End result
They now have a backyard designed for fun and living for all ages, sunup to sundown. There’s a place to swim, shower, cook, gather, and unwind without ever really needing to head inside. The space easily transitions between private resort and good times with all of their favorite people.

ALL ROADS LEAD TO HOME
From country roads to a
country club in the backyard

Country living has plenty of perks, but quick trips to the country club aren’t one of them. With a house full of kids and miles between them and the fun, this family decided to bring the best part home, creating a backyard where they could schlep less, swim more and make summer memories right outside their door.

What they Imagined
Rural-living with multiple kids made trips back and forth to the country club a grind! They wanted the fun in their own back yard, so they could schlep less and frolick more.

Their unique requirements
A large family meant big spaces in which to do different things – play, swim, soak, lounge. They also had a keen sense of style and wanted the water to be Caribbean blue.

The Half Moon Living solution
This stunning pool features a tanning ledge, spa, and striking water wall topped with custom gas firepots converted from planters, bringing their classic aesthetic outdoors.

The end result
Now they can host the kids’ birthday parties any time of year (via their heater and chiller). They can enjoy cocktails spa-side, and they love their striking custom firepots!

WHO SAYS YOU CAN'T GO HOME
An entrance that always
welcomes you back

From the long, winding drive to the back patio, every part of this Oxford property was designed to feel connected. Thoughtful landscaping, hardscaping and architectural details extend the character of the home outdoors, creating a sense of arrival that continues well beyond the front door.

What they imagined
A property that feels timeless from the moment you enter the gate. With a newer home designed to have the character of an older one, the surrounding landscape and hardscape needed to feel equally established and intentional.

Unique requirements
This project stretched well beyond a single outdoor space. A long, winding gated driveway, extensive front landscaping, walkways, backyard steps and a rear patio all needed to work together while complementing the home’s distinctive architecture.

The Half Moon Living solution
Half Moon Living treated the property as one connected experience. Layered landscaping and hardscaping create an inviting approach to the home, while steps provide a natural transition into the backyard, and a custom patio carries the home’s architectural character into the outdoor living space.

End result
A property that feels considered from gate to garden. The winding drive creates a memorable welcome, the landscaping frames the home, and the steps and patio make the transition into the backyard feel seamless. Together, the spaces look and feel as though they have always been there.

BACKYARD TEENAGE DREAMS
From backyard blank space
to teen dream with a view!

Beautiful brickwork seamlessly connects their existing space with their new custom pool where you can find them gazing at the view or reading in a nook.

What they Imagined
They dreamed of turning their back yard blank space into a spot their kids and friends would love. Also, a treeline blocked the view of the beautiful golf course next door.

Their unique requirements
A steep hill between the pool footprint and the trees being removed to expose the view meant a large retaining wall would be needed to retain and reinforce the hillside.

The Half Moon Living solution
This beautiful, custom pool featured surrounding brick hardscape that flowed between the house, existing porches, and patios–connecting them to the outdoors.

The end result
They love having a space where the kids want to be and nooks for reading outside! And no matter where they are in their backyard, they take in the gorgeous view.

POOL DREAMS ARE MADE OF THESE
Swimming a lap of luxury

See this custom pool with retaining wall turned water feature, and elevated outdoor living space and kitchen.

What they Imagined
This family knew they wanted a pool, but their home didn’t have the space for it. So they found some property where it could fit.

Their unique requirements
With a big family and love of hosting, they needed space for cars and ease coming and going. Elevation changes between driveway, walkway, and front door also needed consideration.

The Half Moon Living solution
This custom pool features a tanning ledge, beautiful tilework, water feature retaining wall; bluestone hardscape; and luxury outdoor living area outfitted by Osmanthus Market!

WOODSY RETREAT
Oxford lakehouse elevates
tailgates and hunting trips

By collaborating with the home builder and interior designer from the beginning of this lakehouse transformation, we created a gorgeous outdoor living space that seamlessly connects with their home and an existing outdoor dining space.

What they imagined
They dreamed about renovating their vacation home in Oxford for football weekend tailgates, hunting trips, and lakefront retreats. They wanted to comfortably host and cook up feasts for large groups.

Unique requirements
They wanted a large open deck where they could enjoy lake views and sit and dine comfortably. Avid cooks, they needed their outdoor kitchen to have all of the bells and whistles.

End result
Their open, airy deck is now the perfect place to take in lake views, enjoy all of the meals they are cooking up on their griddle and smoker, and have fireside chats around their custom firepit. They also love playing cornhole on their flat lawn space!

The Half Moon Living solution
Surrounded by planter boxes, the deck features long bench seating and open railing. A retaining wall with a flagstone facade re-inforces the hillside.
